MRCGP AKT Pass Rates by Sitting: A Clearer Trend Than Most
Unlike SMLE, TDM, and CCFP SAMP, the RCGP publishes detailed sitting-by-sitting AKT feedback reports, which makes this one of the better-documented pass rates on this list:
- April 2026: 80.22% overall pass rate (pass mark 107/160)
- January 2026: 76.52% overall pass rate (pass mark 108/160)
- October 2025: 70.63%
- January 2025: 71.42%
- October 2024: 62.52%
There's a real, consistent attainment gap by candidate group: UK graduates (UKG) sitting for the first time passed at 88–89% in both 2026 sittings, well above the all-candidate averages above. The pass mark itself isn't fixed — RCGP sets it each sitting via Angoff standard-setting, which is part of why the numbers move around.
Study takeaway: because the pass mark is recalculated each sitting rather than fixed, and recent trends show it rising, treating any single past pass mark as a hard target isn't reliable — broad, current coverage of clinical medicine, evidence-based practice, and health informatics matters more than chasing last sitting's number.
