A quick update on something you may notice if you've been tracking question counts across TDM, SMLE, PLAB, or MCCQE: we've retired a batch of older questions that predated our current content pipeline, and the totals for those four banks have shifted as a result.
Every question in TopQbank now goes through the same process: AI-drafted, then reviewed and edited by a practising physician before it goes live, checked against current guidelines for that exam. The content we removed was migrated in from an earlier system before that process existed — some of it was still accurate, some had drifted out of date, and none of it had been through the review pipeline the rest of the bank now goes through. Rather than leave a mix of reviewed and unreviewed content sitting side by side with no way to tell them apart, we retired the older batch outright.
What this means for you:
- Your past exams, scores, and progress history are untouched — nothing about what you've already done has changed.
- The banks are smaller right now, but every question in them has been through full physician review.
- We're adding new, guideline-aligned questions on a rolling basis — this isn't a one-time cut with nothing behind it.
Current bank sizes: TDM — 1,579 questions. SMLE — 627 questions. PLAB — 420 questions. MCCQE — 1,795 questions.
